Our Coaching Process

"The real voyage of discovery consists
not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."

Marcel Proust

How does Skyward's coaching work?

Through a personalised programme, you work with your coach either face-to-face or over the phone in regular sessions booked in advance to suit you. Using a variety of approaches, your coach works with and supports you while you face challenges, overcome obstacles, achieve goals and make the most of opportunities in both your personal and professional life. We offer e-mail support for you between sessions as you implement and practice what you learn. The content of your sessions is confidential.

What sorts of things do people get coaching on?

The beauty of good coaching is that there is no limit to what it can help you achieve. People come to coaching for all sorts of reasons: they may want to improve their leadership or management skills, change career, increase their confidence, reduce their stress levels, improve work-life balance, find a sense of direction or uncover and work with their values. Due to its high impact and cost-effectiveness, coaching is increasingly being used as a tool for professional development.

How do I choose the right coach for me?

Choose a coach who is qualified and accredited by a reputable coach-specific training body. Ideally, they should be a member of a professional coaching organisation which monitors standards and ethics. As you will work closely with your coach, it is also important that you feel as though you can speak freely, openly and honestly to ensure you work well together.

How long does someone work with a coach?

We usually recommend working with your coach for a minimum of four months to ensure you get maximum value for money and a long-lasting impact. However, some people with specific short-term objectives may achieve their goals within a few sessions, while others may take much longer.

Is coaching the same as counselling/therapy?

No. Counselling/therapy tends to look backwards and helps you deal with problems you have encountered in the past. Coaching uses different approaches and helps you move your life forward. An active process with a practical focus, coaching can help bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.
